With a vision that results from an unbridled curiosity, Vincent Van Duysen always creates an all-inclusive atmosphere in which he seamlessly interweaves architecture, interior design, and design objects. A vision to which he also stayed true when he was commissioned to convert the monastery of the former military hospital in Antwerp into a hotel. For the terrace he designed the Outdoor collection, a series of minimalist chairs that effortlessly link the history of the environment to a modern interpretation.

The Outdoor collection by Vincent Van Duysen for Serax is made of aluminium and it is available with a black or grey-green powder coating. This makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The chairs, lounge chair, and table articulate the sheer simplicity of the monastic life they were inspired by. The wider, slightly lower proportions are of this day and age and contribute modern-day comfort.

Dining chair

The chairs from the August collection of Vincent Van Duysen for Serax are stripped down to the essence, but with contemporary proportions. The slightly wider seat and backrest ensure optimum comfort. The black or grey-green powder-coated aluminium is weatherproof, allowing the chairs to be used both indoors and outdoors.

Lounge chair

Vincent Van Duysen is known for his ability to seamlessly translate sheer minimalism into comfort in his own unique way. The look of his Outdoor lounge chairs for Serax originates from the simple monastic life of the previous century, but the proportions and small details belong to the present. The interior architect has mounted additional supports on the armrests, and the seat and back are slightly curved so that they perfectly follow the outline of your body. The weatherproof lounge chairs are made entirely of black or grey-green powder-coated aluminium and can be used both indoors and outdoors for a wonderful moment of relaxation.

Dining table

Vincent Van Duysen's vision is unambiguous: a design object should never clamour for attention, it should be at one with its surroundings. And that is precisely what his Outdoor collection for Serax does. The minimalist aluminium table with black or grey-green powder coating was given a strong, pure design: a frame with slim, tubular legs, and a straight rectangular tabletop. Free from any unnecessary details, and in subdued tones. With the chairs you can enjoy a cosy lunch or dinner, both indoors and outdoors.
