For the Cocooning lanterns, the Belgian ceramist Fréderique Vanvlasselaer went in search of the possibilities of textures on the porcelain surface, in function of light. She takes inspiration for the applied layers from textures that arise through decay, such as layers of paint that peel off, cracks in a wall or a rotting piece of wood. The Cocooning lanterns are further characterized by their organic signature and refined finish. The organic character is reflected in the soft wavy lines and the earthy patterns.
