In every one of his creations, Piet Boon aims to combine functionality and design. In a sophisticated manner. And, that is exactly what he has managed to achieve here yet again. The designer sees these marble trays as pieces that create a material barrier between the surface they are placed on and the objects we display on them, or even, want to put them in the spotlight on. He chose to work with neutral marble in black with a subtle vein pattern. The shapes, too, are simple: a small or larger rectangle with delicately finished edges. These items are more than just a block of marble. They are an expression of the designer’s identity, but at the same time, this personal connection doesn’t detract attention from the objects you place on them.
