L’Accueil is a shelter in Charleroi for underprivileged and abused children up to the age of six. The centre offers extensive family support to children who are in difficulty, as well as to their parents. A warm nest in a green environment that offers both therapeutic and educational support, 24 hours per day and 365 days per year. For the past 27 years, a team of professionals have been giving their time, day after day, to provide these extremely vulnerable children with a safe environment and intensive guidance. The idea behind the intervention of the l’Accueil teams is to break out of the downward spiral of neglect and domestic abuse.

Part of the centre’s operating costs is covered by subsidies, but this is not nearly enough to cover full occupancy. Therefore, every year, the centre organises l’Art pour l’Accueil, a large exhibition and sale of more than 200 different contemporary works of art at the Hangar Art Centre in Brussels. Beautiful paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, jewellery and design objects from more than 180 artists, designers, galleries and donors find a new owner, and the operation of the shelter is financially supported. Serax also contributes to this initiative. At the 'museum shop' of the exhibition you will be able to purchase some Serax products for this charity this year, such as book racks by Antonino Sciortino and marble tables by Dialect. The exhibition runs from 22 to 25 March. All proceeds go entirely to l'Accueil and the children in need.
