To hit the charts as a chef is no small feat, but for teams it is perhaps even more difficult. After all, in addition to extreme discipline and coordination, it not only requires perfect cooperation between the team members and the ingredients, but also a sublime synergy between the culinary creations, the tableware and the presentation. With the Culinary World Cup 2018, the World Association of Chefs' Societies, Worldchefs in short, offers culinary teams from all over the world the opportunity to prove that they have mastered all aspects and that they deserve the title of Best Culinary Team in the World. Serax sponsors two of the participating teams with all the tableware they need to achieve this goal. With both the national team of Singapore, the reigning world champions, and the national team of the United Arab Emirates, we can choose between two great teams to root for at Serax.

Worldchefs is a dynamic worldwide network of more than 100 chefs’ associations from around the world, representing chefs at all levels and with a wide variety of specialities. As a global authority on food, Worldchefs exerts a major influence in education, provides a gateway to global culinary networking opportunities, and organises and supports humanitarian and sustainability programmes. In addition, Worldchefs organises numerous competitions for culinary teams, both at national, international and global level, with the Culinary World Cup 2018 taking place at the Expogast gastronomy fair in Luxembourg, from 24 to 28 November, as the ultimate icing on the cake.

In the build-up to the final battle for the prestigious World Cup, the culinary teams are preparing themselves with a number of national and international competitions. For example, during the FHA Culinary Challenge 2018 (24 to 27 April), teams from all over the world competed for a gold medal in various disciplines, as a recognition of their gastronomic excellence. In a blood-curdling race, the Singapore team brought the perfect imperfection to life on the Serax tableware collections by Perfect Imperfection by Roos Van de Velde, Dusk by Martine Keirsebilck and La nouvelle table by Merci. Rewarding them with a bronze, silver and gold medal. The masterly creations of the United Arab Emirates team lifted the Base by Piet Boon plates to a higher level, which won them two coveted gold medals. Will the reigning world champions be able to keep the title, will our team from the desert take over, or ... will another team celebrate? We will know on 28 November 2018.
