When Belgian interior architect Nele Vercauteren decided to move her creative studio ARCK to the vibrant city center of Antwerp, adding a gallery was an absolute must. “People don’t just enter an interior designers’ office. So for me the gallery is a perfect way to create a connection with fellow admirers of art and design.” For the opening show at the ARCK Studio Nele has built a poetic universe with the tableware, the glasses and the lighting fixtures Ann Demeulemeester designed for Serax. “It is a very strong collection, I fell in love with it straight away. You can really feel the hand of an experienced designer in these pieces.” That designer being one of the famous Antwerp Six is a convenient storyline for a creative professional moving from the rural village of Tielrode to Antwerp. “I really wanted to experience that city buzz.
When I found this amazing location in the renowned Kloosterstraat all the pieces of the puzzle fell in place. The ceramics of Ann Demeulemeester complement the historic character of this new location.” The raffled lamps in particular act as true showstoppers in the ARCK windows. “I have had some really nice feedback from my new neighbors, they love the lighting.” And the best news for those neighbors: all the pieces on display are for sale.
